Your probably wondering, why an outlet box post on a woodworking site ? Please bear with me. If your building a workshop or adding on to a workshop, this is the only outlet box (For duplex receptacles & light switches) that I use.
The features I like about the outlet box pictured above are:
- I can easily snap (That’s right, snap) the box to a 2 x 4 wood stud.
- By turning a threaded screw (Part of the box assembly), I can easily move the front of the box relative to the face of the 2 x 4 wood stud it’s fastened too.
Lowes is the only store I know of that sells this box, in my town. Here in northwest Florida, this box costs $2.33 (Last time I checked, several weeks ago) at Lowes, for the one-gang box. The box is plastic (PVC) and designed for use with romex wire.
The box sold by Lowes is labeled as “Southwire Romex Box”. I googled for information on this box without success. However, when I googled “Single Gang Adjustable PVC Box”, Amazon came up as a source for this type of box. See “Related Web Site Link” at the bottom of this post.
Included below is a short (2:53 minutes) video regarding this box.
If you enjoyed this post, I would be very grateful if you would share it by email with a friend, or on Google+, and/or Facebook.
